William R. Bogardus ’67

William R. Bogardus ’67 died peacefully at his home in Chatham, Massachusetts, on June 9 with wife Hal and children Rachel ’98 and Justin at his side. Bill came to the College from Weston, Massachusetts; majored in mathematics; and was a brother of Kappa Kappa Kappa. After graduation he spent four years in the U.S. Navy as a supply officer on the USS Intrepid, following which he earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Professionally, Bill worked in finance at Digital Equipment Corp. and the Chiofaro Cos. before becoming president and owner of Allied Creditor Services, which he grew into a successful business. Bill devoted an enormous amount of time and energy to Dartmouth and ’67. He served as class president, head agent, alumni councilor, alumni admissions interviewer, class officers association president, and leader of the Dartmouth Club of Cape Cod. He helped create the Class of ’67 Bunkhouse at Moosilauke, the Class of ’67 Space for Dialogue in the Hood Museum, and the ’67 Memorial Grove near Occom Pond. As a testament to his long service to the College and ’67, Bill was awarded the 2021-22 Dartmouth Alumni Award. Most important to him, however, was his family. When asked what he hoped to be remembered for, Bill answered: “Rachel, Justin, and Hal—those are the accomplishments I’m most proud of.” He is survived by Hal; Rachel and husband Jon; Justin; grandchildren Leah and Aaron; and three siblings and their spouses.
