Thomas A. Keller III ’57

Thomas A. Keller III ’57 passed away on October 2, 2022, at his home in St. Paul, Minnesota. Tom came to Dartmouth from Stillwater (Minnesota) High School. He majored in philosophy, was a member of Alpha Delta Phi (secretary), and played rugby. He earned a degree from New York University School of Law in 1960. In 1961 Tom joined O’Connor & Hannan, a prominent Minneapolis law firm. A short seven years later he became a general partner and spent most of his career there. His expertise in business law allowed work with companies large and small on matters ranging from mergers and acquisitions to corporate governance and employment. Tom regularly served as a special master for the U.S. District Court in cases involving complex corporate litigation. He was chairman of the board of the local legal aid society. He was honored by the Minnesota Bar Association in 2010. Tom was instrumental in the creation of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, served as it first board chair, and worked tirelessly to assure its long-term success. A lover of the theater, Tom served on the board of the Minnesota Opera. Dartmouth benefitted by years of alumni service, beginning in 1969, as president of the Minneapolis club, alumni councilor, class treasurer for six years, and district enrollment director for 10 years. In 1989 Tom received the Dartmouth Alumni Award. Tom is survived by his wife, Victoria, daughter Jasmine, and son Tom IV.
