Karl Arthur Friberg ’67

Karl Arthur Friberg ’67 of Greenwich, Connecticut, passed away on February 25. Karl came to the College from Frankfurt High School in 1963, majored in engineering science, and was a brother of Bones Gate and captain of the lightweight crew. After graduation Karl received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University. After working at Draper Labs on the Apollo moon project and a fellowship from Westinghouse, he changed course and obtained an M.B.A. from Harvard University in 1973. While at Dartmouth Karl met Lyn Peterson, whom he married a few years after graduation and with whom he launched Motif Designs, bringing Marimekko and Ralph Lauren fabrics and wall coverings to the U.S. home furnishing markets. Karl is survived by Lyn and children Anne-Marie, Kristina Leigh, and Paul Frederick.
