Ralph E. Miller Jr. ’55

Ralph E. Miller Jr. ’55, M.D., died on November 21, 2021, in Lexington, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife, Pam, daughter Karen, and sons Alex ’87 and Erik. Ralph grew up in Hanover as the son of a professor at Dartmouth Medical School. He went from skiing Oak Hill to competing in the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy, and setting the world speed record for skiing in Portillo, Chile. After taking a leave of absence to prepare for the Olympics, Ralph resumed his premed studies in 1957 and completed his courses at Dartmouth Medical School in 1959. He received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1961, then earned an M.S. and Sc.D. in physiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. He had a 39-year career as a professor and physician at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He also supported Pam’s tenure as mayor of Lexington.
