Charles Fowler Curtis ’52

Charles Fowler Curtis ’52 passed away on February 24 in New London, New Hampshire. Chuck was born on March 26, 1930, in New Haven, Connecticut, and graduated from the Hopkins School in New Haven. He then graduated from Dartmouth in 1952, receiving a degree with distinction in economics. He was a member of Sigma Chi and Dragon. He also had a distinguished football career at Dartmouth setting many records. His football career culminated with him being selected to play in the East-West Shriners game in Palo Alto, California. Chuck served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. At Dartmouth Chuck met Alison Faulk from Colby Junior College and they were married in 1954. Upon discharge from the Navy Chuck began his lifetime career in insurance and financial planning. The balance of his career was spent as a broker and part owner with Boston Insurance Center, retiring in 1995 as vice president of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Chuck and Alison lived in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, before retiring to New London in 1995. Chuck was an avid golfer who enjoyed many years at Lake Sunapee Country Club, where he had two holes in one and won three senior club championships. Chuck served as chairman of the local council on aging and was a member of the First Baptist Church of New London, serving as a deacon. Alison passed away in 2014. Chuck is survived by children Christine and husband Neal, Cynthia and husband Thomas, Chip and wife Corinne, Scott and wife Valerie, and seven grandchildren.
