Hunter Edward Harvey Jr. ’52

Hunter Edward Harvey Jr. ’52 passed away in Newtown, Pennsylvania, on February 8, 2019. Ted was born on November 8, 1930, and came to Dartmouth after graduating from Upper Montclair (New Jersey) High School. At Dartmouth he was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa, but left before graduating to serve in the Army until 1955. He went on to earn his bachelor’s from Rutgers University in 1961 and a master’s from MIT in 1966. He enjoyed a 40-year career with the Bell telephone system, and was with New Jersey Bell at various locations until 1979, when he transferred to AT&T, serving in New York and New Jersey until 1995, when he retired as vice president of public policy. While with New Jersey Bell Ted joined the board of directors of Mercer Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey, and, in the period following retirement, he worked on the successful merger of Mercer with another Trenton hospital, the Helen Fuld Medical Center. In the late 1950s Ted married Ann, who survives him.
