William E. Myers ’57
William E. Myers ’57 of Fresno, California, died on April 30. Bill’s hometown was Baltimore, where he attended Gilman Country Day School. He majored in economics and was a member of Psi Upsilon, serving as treasurer. Bill played lacrosse, was circulation manager of The Dartmouth, and was in the Army ROTC. He received an M.B.A. from Tuck School in 1959. Next, he graduated from the Fort Sill School of Artillery and Missiles and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant. Bill was the ultimate entrepreneur. He founded Myers Management, a market research firm, and Myers Corp., a housing development company. In 1966 he was one of the original founders of Air California, which was sold to American Airlines. He also started Cable Commuter Airlines, which served 13 airports in southern California, and sold it to Los Angeles Airways. He founded Myers Building Industries, where he built shopping centers and auto dealerships for 25 years. He retired in 1995 to “play golf and enjoy his family.” In 2005 Bill and his wife of 41 years, Caren, moved to Fresno, where he activated the SCORE chapter and worked with small business entrepreneurs. He retired as chairman in 2009, spent time with the entrepreneur program at Fresno State, and was active as a mentor. Bill is survived by Caren, two sons, a daughter, and eight grandchildren. He was a strong believer in the Bible and Jesus Christ. He loved God, his family, and his country.
