Michael Derek Keeshan ’73

Michael Derek Keeshan ’73 died unexpectedly January 18 at home in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Michael came to Dartmouth from Babylon, Long Island, New York, and was a graduate of the Cranwell Preparatory School in Lenox, Massachusetts. At the College he majored in English. Michael rowed freshman crew, played intramural sports, wrote for The Dartmouth and was a member of the Dartmouth Players. Alpha Delta was his fraternity. After earning an M.B.A. in 1975 from Tuck, Michael began a 35-year career in advertising and marketing. His expertise in brand strategy and corporate positioning led to his becoming one of the youngest presidents and chief operating officers of Saatchi & Saatchi in New York, and later chief strategic officer for Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide. At the time of his death Michael was the managing director of MagiKbox, LLC, a private marketing consultancy that he founded in 1998. He served for several years as a member of his College and Tuck classes’ annual giving committees. Michael is survived by his wife, Lynn Marcucci Keeshan, Tu’75; sons Britton, DMS’06, and Connor; and sisters Laurie Keeshan Sullivan ’75 and Maeve. His late father, Robert J. Keeshan, was an adopted member of the class of ’42 and received an honorary degree from Dartmouth in 1975.
