Leslie C. “Les” Pratt ’65

Leslie C. “Les” Pratt ’65 passed away on November 30, 2015, at the Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. His Dartmouth friends and fraternity brothers at Zeta Psi remember Les as an affable, thoughtful guy with a keen wit and a touch of Vermont in his speech. He was born in the Bronx, New York, son of Leslie Moore Pratt and Julia Katherine (Shiminski) Pratt. Les attended Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, Vermont, graduating as valedictorian in 1961. After graduating cum laude in 1965 from Dartmouth he joined the Navy, achieving the rank of lieutenant, j.g., and served as a supply officer on the USS Salamonie. After his discharge Les attended Cornell, receiving his law degree in 1973. Les married Diane Dussault in April 1966; she passed away in 1991. He married Sharlene Chambers in July 1994. Les practiced law until 1987, then became a vice president at Blue Cross of Vermont. He then practiced law in Burlington, Vermont, until 2011, when he and Sharlene moved to Cape Coral. Survivors include Sharlene, sons James and Jason, stepchildren Shaun and Tanya and sisters Sally and Lorraine. Les will be remembered as an authentic and humble man, given to boisterous laughter and devotion to his family and many friends. A memorial service is planned for late May at the veterans cemetery in Randolph, Vermont.
