Kent Mayer Klineman ’54
Kent Mayer Klineman ’54 passed away on August 14, 2015, in New York City. Kent came to Dartmouth from Rochester, New York, where he graduated from Brighton High School. At Dartmouth he was a brother of Sigma Chi and majored in government. After graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force for two years. Upon his discharge he enrolled at Harvard Law School, earning his degree in 1959. He also earned a master’s in taxation from NYU Law School in 1962. Kent practiced law with several New York City law firms from 1959 to 1969. In 1969, with John Dryfoos, he formed Dryfoos and Co., a stock exchange member firm that was the second member firm licensed to manage customers’ accounts on a discretionary basis. In 1973 Kent left Dryfoos to form Klineman Associates Inc., a firm that created and syndicated equipment leasing, tax-sheltered investments in computers, helicopters, airplanes and other assets. In 1985 he formed Klineman Holding Corp. a venture capital N.Y.C. firm. Kent served the class as treasurer (1964-69) and executive committee member (1989-97). Kent and his wife, Hedy, contributed the di Suvero sculpture that can be seen on the Dartmouth campus. He is survived by Hedy, daughter Justine ’89 and sons Kent and Jordan’92.
