Kathleen Marshall Diekroeger ’84

Kathleen Marshall Diekroeger ’84 died peacefully at home on March 19 in Woodside, California, surrounded by family. Kathy grew up in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, and Stow, Massachusetts. She graduated from Dartmouth with a degree in economics. At Dartmouth Kathy was captain of the cross-country team and member of the track team and served as secretary and president of Kappa Kappa Gamma. After graduation Kathy worked for Bain & Co. in Boston. She went to Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she met her future husband, Ken. They graduated in 1988 and married in the Bay Area in 1989. Kathy worked in business development for healthcare firms Vivra Inc. and Vivra Specialty Partners. After having sons Kenny, Danny, and Mikey, Kathy retired and focused on school volunteering. She was president of the parents association and later joined the board of trustees at the Carey School in San Mateo, California, where she served as president for two years. When her boys played professional baseball, Kathy got an inside look at the crazy life in the minor leagues. She shared those experiences in what she called her favorite project: writing the book, I Should Have Quit This Morning: Adventures in Minor League Baseball. Unfortunately, Kathy was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in January 2020. She wished her family and friends to know that she loves them and is grateful for their friendship and for the many happy years of her life.
