John H. Per-Lee Jr. ’51

John H. Per-Lee Jr. ’51, M.D., died on April 24 in his longtime hometown of Atlanta after a long illness. John was a member of Zeta Psi and executive manager of the Dartmouth College Athletic Council. He went on to earn his M.D. at Cornell Medical College, followed by a residency at New York Hospital and a fellowship in otology at the University of Southern California. He served two years as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy. He cofounded an otolaryngology practice at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta and was an associate professor at Emory University Medical School and a part-time faculty member at the Atlanta Veterans Administration Medical Center. He volunteered for several volunteer medical missions in Central America. Family was John’s great love and delight. He is survived by his wife, Dot, four children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was a leader in his church. Other strong interests included music, nature, dogs, sports, reading, and traveling. He never tired of learning; making every day count was his mantra. John’s father, Jack, was a 1925 graduate of Dartmouth.
