James T. Nixon ’47
James T. Nixon ’47, M.D., died on April 27 of a massive stroke in Orange, Connecticut. He was born March 19, 1925, grew up and attended high school in West Haven, Connecticut. He joined the class as a civilian in 1943 and then enlisted in the Navy in his freshman year. He served in the Pacific theater, including in Okinawa, and returned to graduate in 1947. In college he joined Zeta Psi and was active in the German Club and the DOC. He completed his medical training at New York University School of Medicine in 1951 and in 1954 established a private practice in internal medicine in New Haven from which he retired in 2001. He served as a class agent for several years after graduation. He enjoyed fly-fishing and was a member of the Hammonasset Fishing Association. He also enjoyed skeet shooting. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
