James M. Danielson ’65

James M. Danielson ’65 passed away on January 22 in Wenatchee, Washington. He was born in Ellensburg, Washington, on March 4, 1943. Jim was raised on a farm outside of Othello, Washington, and the strong work ethic that instilled stayed with him through Dartmouth and a successful career in law. Jim married Carol Anthony, his high school sweetheart, in 1964. They lived in Hanover until Jim graduated from Dartmouth. Jim attended law school at University of Washington, where he served as the editor of the law review and graduated in the Order of the Coif and began a successful career as a trial attorney. He was brilliant in the courtroom and was widely regarded and admired. Jim served his community as a long-standing member of the Wenatchee school board, a board member of the Washington State Bar Association, and a regent in the American College of Trial Lawyers. Jim was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin in Stehekin, Washington. He leaves behind Carol, children Kristen, Kari (and fiancée Wade), and James (and wife Natalie), and six grandchildren. Bob Murphy ’65 remembers trips with Jim and Carol to Maui, Cabo, Rome, Venice, Australia and New Zealand, and Victoria, British Columbia. “His was truly a life well lived,” said Murphy.
