James L. Magavern ’55

James L. Magavern ’55 passed away on March 7 in Buffalo, New York. He is survived by children David, Margaret, Samuel, and William. Buffalo was home to “Kim” his entire life. He came to Dartmouth from Nichols School and earned his LL.B. from the University of Buffalo School of Law in 1959. He then joined his father and brother in the family law firm of Magavern and Magavern. Jim was Erie County attorney in the 1970s and helped craft the agreements that led to the construction of the Buffalo Bills football stadium. He also chaired the advisory committee for the design of the downtown Buffalo baseball stadium.
