George H. Storck ’52

George H. Storck ’52 passed away February 12, 2015, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York, on October 11, 1930. He was raised on Army posts around the country before the family settled in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, where he was a star athlete at Swarthmore High School. He attended Dartmouth as a freshman, but went on to graduate from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, as did his father and brother. After serving in the U.S. Army he completed a graduate degree in physical education from Columbia University and began a career in college athletics. As head football coach at Franklin & Marshall College he led the team to an undefeated championship season in 1964. He later returned to West Point, where he coached football and track and served as associate athletic director. He finished his career at the College of William & Mary. He spent most of his retirement in Maine, splitting time between Saco and North Pond. He spent his final years at the Maine Veterans’ Home of Scarborough. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean, children David and Susan and one granddaughter.
