George H. Lewis ’57

George H. Lewis ’57 of Concord, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, surrounded by family. George grew up on the family dairy farm in Littleton, New Hampshire. He graduated from Woodsville (New Hampshire) High School, the same year he met his partner in life, Trilly. He majored in geology and was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa, the ski team, and the Dartmouth Outing Club. George and Trilly were married during his junior year. After graduation and a whirlwind tour of three years moving around the country, the newlyweds returned to New Hampshire, where George pursued his master’s in mathematics from the University of New Hampshire. George and Trilly settled in 1965 in Concord, where they built the home on Dover Street in which they would raise a family, establish a community of neighbors, and live for the next 59 years. He was involved in the community, especially with Second Start, and adult education and alternative high school. Primarily a high school math teacher, his N.H. classrooms spanned from Berlin to Concord to Gilford, where he retired from teaching in 1997. George was an avid skier at Mt. Eustis Ski Hill in Littleton, New Hampshire. He was a voracious reader who never missed a crossword puzzle. His time spent at the family camp in Lempster, New Hampshire, was perhaps his most precious. George is survived by Trilly, his wife of 68 years, and sons Gregory and Jeffrey and their families, including six grandchildren.
