Galen W. Clough ’57

Galen W. Clough ’57 of Evansville, Indiana,passed away on December 21, 2017. He grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, and attended Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts. After graduating from Dartmouth in the English honors program, he went on to earn his Ph.D. from Indiana University. Galen taught for 30 years at the University of Evansville in the English department. He is fondly remembered by many of his students. He was an avid runner and completed 20 marathons. He loved sports, particularly the Boston Red Sox. He served as soccer coach for the first University of Evansville women’s soccer team as well as for Evansville youth soccer. Galen was known for his dry wit, which he shared in letters and essays to friends and family. He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 57 years, three daughters and five grandchildren.
