Gaetano “Guy” Vicinelli ’63

Gaetano “Guy” Vicinelli ’63 died peacefully at his home in Village of Golf, Florida, on June 1 following a long battle with cancer. Guy was born in New York City and attended Sedbergh School, where he was active in several sports. Born into an international family, he also attended schools in Turin, Italy, and Quebec, Canada, before attending Dartmouth. At Dartmouth he majored in history, was a brother at Gamma Delt, active in the Newman Club, and served as a ski instructor in the Dartmouth Outing Club. Guy had a long career with J.P. Morgan Bank, serving in Milan, New York, Beirut, and Chile. After retiring Guy was active in a variety of charitable organizations, including as board chair of VIP Community Services in the Bronx and as a board member and chair of the land trust in Stowe, Vermont, where he and his wife had a home. His association with Stowe began with his first descent down the “Nose Dive” in 1953. Guy was ahead of his time at the land trust and emphasized stewardship of existing properties, pointing out the importance of “preserving and protecting properties we have already conserved.” He is survived by his wife, Susan, three children, and nine grandchildren.
