Donald W. Aitken Jr. ’58

Donald W. Aitken Jr. ’58 passed away on February 27 at his Mexico home. Don was a member of Gamma Delta, ski patroller, and played in the Marching Band. John Kemeny selected him as one of his first honors math students. A physics major, Don was a senior fellow, graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and went on to earn a Ph.D. in physics at Stanford. He was a professor at San Jose State University and founded its environmental studies program. He cofounded Friends of the Earth in 1969 and was a leader in national and international solar energy societies.
