Don Schofield Peterson ’59

Don Schofield Peterson ’59 died April 28 in Tucson, Arizona, after a battle with cancer. Don entered Dartmouth from Madison (Wisconsin) West High School and was a National Honor Society member. Don played freshman football and was a four-year member of our ski team. He was proud to have been a member of the ski team when it was the NCAA national champion. Don was vice president of Beta Theta Pi and a member of Casque & Gauntlet and DOC for four years. He also served on the Sophomore Orientation Committee. After the U.S. Marine Corps he graduated from University of Wisconsin Law School and practiced law in Milwaukee for 30 years until retirement in 2001, when he, wife Susan and daughter Emily moved to Tucson to be close to son Doug’s family. As Don’s family says, his favorite times were spent enjoying a day at the beach with Emily, an afternoon on the golf course, watching a game with son Doug, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and a good meal with Susan and their longtime friends.
