David Brewster Bartlett ’54

David Brewster Bartlett ’54 of Ipswich, Massachusetts, passed away September 30, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in nearby Marblehead, at Marblehead High School he was captain of the football team and played baseball. He went on for one year at Worcester Academy and then graduated from Dartmouth. David’s insurance career began with Kemper Insurance Co. and in 1962 he purchased the Charles A Slee Agency Inc. Among David’s many achievements and activities were service as president of Marblehead Booster Club, vice president of Marblehead Little League, and director of Swampscott/Marblehead YMCA, the local chamber of commerce, and Marblehead Visiting Nurse Association. He was a member of Rotary Club of Marblehead (from which he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award), Marblehead Elks Club, Marblehead Savings Bank, and Tedesco Country Club. He was a member of the First Church Congregational of Boxford, Massachusetts, for more than 60 years and served 65 years as a master mason for the Order of the Free and Accepted Masons of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Nancy; children Caryn, Cheryl, Christine, Cynthia, Douglas, Sandra, and Scott; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
