Stephan R. Swirsky ’63 died on August 7 of rapid-onset systemic infection. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and attended James Hillhouse High School. Steve was a star athlete in basketball and baseball from early childhood.
John S. Bell ’63 died on April 22 in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri; grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and attended Washington Senior High School, where he was active on the swim team.
Daniel J. Matyola ’63 died on May 2 from complications of recent surgery. Dan was born in Somerville, New Jersey, and attended Somerville High School, where he received a perfect SAT score.
Donald M. Shulkin ’63 died on February 2. He was from Rome, New York, and attended Rome Free Academy, where he participated in the glee club and the yearbook.
Arthur D. Toll ’63 passed away peacefully of Alzheimer’s on February 22, 2021, at the Nottingham Nursing Home near his home in Baldwinsville, New York.
Bruce K. Nichols ’63 died on January 27 in Palm City, Florida, of complications from bladder cancer. Bruce was from Norwalk, Connecticut, and attended Norwalk High School, where he was active in the glee club, yearbook, and soccer.
John R. Willets ’63 died on January 29 at home in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. John was born in Freeport, New York, and graduated from St. Paul’s School in Garden City, New York, where he played baseball and basketball.
Henry F. Smith ’63 died due to Alzheimer’s on October 23, 2022, in Hanover, where lived since 2010. Hank was from Lowell, Massachusetts, and attended Lowell High School, where he was a member of the tennis team.
Lyman Bruce Coffey ’63 died from complications of an infection on October 11, 2022, while visiting friends in Connecticut shortly after a sailing trip in the British Columbia islands just days before.
