James Edward Nevitt ’57 passed away on May 19, 2011. He had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease. At the time of his death he was living in Everett, Pennsylvania.
Richard M. Newkirk ’57 of Northville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2011. His health had been declining for several years with emphysema. Dick had proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Barrant H. Sweet ’57 died peacefully on December 2, 2011, at his home in Goshen, Connecticut. He had come to Hanover from Closter, New Jersey. While at Dartmouth he majored in English and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Eugene Augustus Vance ’57, Ph.D., died on May 14, 2011, after a plane he was piloting crashed at Arlington (Washington) Municipal Airport. Originally a member of the class of 1956, he came to Dartmouth from Noble & Greenough School.
Graydon Powers ’57 died on September 11, 2011, at the Sunrise at Fair Oaks assisted-living facility in Virginia. He had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
Robert Tracy Vostal ’57 passed away April 11 at home in Jefferson City, Missouri. He grew up in New Jersey. At Dartmouth he majored in zoology, joined Alpha Delta Phi and Sphinx and played varsity soccer.
Richard L. Bohanon ’57 passed away January 18 at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After graduating from Casady School in Oklahoma City Dick came to Dartmouth, where he majored in history and was a member of Sigma Chi and the Pre-Law Club.
Richard Edgar Martz ’57 died in Burnsville, North Carolina, on April 10, 2008, of lung cancer. A multi-talented man who marched to tunes nobody else heard, Dick left Dartmouth in his junior year and never got a degree.
Malcolm Bruce Davidson ’57 of Barrington, Rhode Island, passed away on July 11 after a short battle with cancer. Mal came to Dartmouth from San Luis Obispo, California.
