Class Note 1938
Mar - Apr 2011
Happy spring! As I write this column I am in the midst of Blizzard 2010—December 27! Wind is howling, snow is blowing, and trees are swaying (no—it’s not Miami)! It’s a cold day in New England and, for that matter, parts South.Snowbirds in Florida are feeling the effects of old man winter.
I was notified by the alumni relations office that Runnie and Betsy Colie were on the guest list for the November 20 presidential club event in Princeton, New Jersey. The event consisted of going to a pre-football game reception for about 500 Dartmouth fans at which President Kim would speak. They could then go to the game afterward. The Dartmouth Club of New Jersey hosted President Jim Yong Kim and athletics director Harry Sheehy at Princeton University. Those participating in the event also took time to catch up with life at Dartmouth. I believe the Colies were the most senior couple on the guest list. I’m hoping that Runnie and Betsy were able to attend—and would love to hear (and pass on) their thoughts and comments.
I regret to inform you of the passing of a 1938 Man of Dartmouth: Richard Roberts Otto, from Bethesda, Maryland, passed away on October 3, 2010. Deepest sympathy to his family from his class of ’38 family.
When next we speak, it will be summer and the Blizzard of 2010 will be a memory! Stay well!
