Class Note 1938

Issue

Jan - Feb 2013

I don’t know what it is about the timing of when I write for the class of ’38, but it seems there is always some chaotic weather taking place! I am awaiting the arrival of Hurricane Sandy and, from what I hear, this one will make the history books—and we were there! I pray that all of your hatches were battened and you are all safe and well.

Class Officers Weekend is now a memory. When I visit the Big Green I am never alone—I have my comrades in arms walking with me telling stories and reliving days of yesteryears. The amazing class of ’38 is all with me (all of you whether here or “there”) with a hand stretched out to greet a fellow classmate. In my mind I am going through the roll call, but I dare not mention anyone specific by name for fear of not mentioning all of you.

Keep thinking 75th reunion—my understanding is that three classmates from the class of 1937 participated in their 75th this year along with family members. Remember, it’s not quantity but quality!

And on a personal note—I would be remiss if I did not thank all of you, my very dear classmates, for allowing me to receive on your behalf the Secretary of the Year Award presented to your secretary. To say it is/was a surprise is an understatement! This is not my award—this is your award. I just happened to be the one from the class of ’38 who was in Hanover. So I am now presenting this most prestigious award to all of you in appreciation for making Dartmouth what it is today—a life experience that never ends and just keeps getting better like fine wine. Oh, how we have aged!

Stay well and, as always, know that you are always in my thoughts and in my heart.
