Class Note 1938

Issue

Nov - Dec 2009

News via the Internet from Edward “Korn” Patterson: “I was stunned to find my class of ’38 as the third class listed on the page—it began to bring back memories of wonderful times, friends and memories of my beloved Dartmouth which influenced my life in so many ways. So many choices I made and so many paths I have taken were the result of my four years at Dartmouth. I am now 92 years old and have led an active life—retired from the army and the U.S. government—spent the last 30 years so involved in breeding, exhibiting and judging dogs along with my wife of 34 years, Charlotte, who is also a dog-show judge. Life has been good and full. My health is not good, but one day I look forward to a trip back to Hanover once more.” I would love to hear (via mail or e-mail, see my address below) from those who would like to possibly get together once again.

A wee bit of info: For the class of 2013 (entering in 2009) 18,132 applied to Dartmouth, 2,244 were admitted and 1,100 matriculated. It was 540 (49.1 percent) males and 560 (50.9 percent) females. Further breakdown in next column.

Sadly I must report the loss of three classmates: James Sutcliffe of South Dennis, Massachusetts; Richard Rooker, M.D., of Winona Lake, Indiana; and Jerome Hochberg of Winnetka, Illinois. Our deepest sympathies and prayers to their dear families.

Know that you are near and dear to my heart. Best wishes for a very happy and blessed holiday season.
