Class Note 1938
Nov - Dec 2013
Happy and blessed holidays to all of you! I can’t figure out where the time goes—here it is August, I somehow lost July and you are receiving this somewhere between end of October and December.
Received word from the alumni office of the passing of Donald Ritchey Stroud; Donald was a member of the Green Key Society, Dartmouth Outing Club and Phi Delta Alpha/Phi Delta Theta. He was a prominent attorney and lifelong Madison, Wisconsin, resident. On the eve of Pearl Harbor he joined the U.S. Army’s Officer Cadet School, later working in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps in Chicago before being deployed to the European theater. Our deepest sympathy to his dear family.
At this time the College has received word that, along with myself, Francis Mooney planned to attend the 75th reunion that was held in September—more on this to follow.
I have no other news at this time. As you already know, the 75th reunion is a now a memory and, although you might not have been there, you should still have extremely vivid and fond memories of reunions past. The difference with this one is that we are all now just a little bit older (and wiser!). The class of 1948 celebrated its 65th and the class of 1943 celebrated its 70th—so, as you can see we were among the oldest and, not without saying, the “bestest’”!
I pray that you all stay well and enjoy, as best you can, this wonderful time of year with fond memories of holidays past. Love to you all and, as always, you are forever in my thoughts!
