Head agent David Bracken reported that in FY 2025-26, 36 percent of the class donated $407,193, the equivalent of eight student scholarships; 227 classmates donated for at least three consecutive years, qualifying for the Dartmouth Loyal Society, 48 gifts of $2,500 or more in the 1769 Society, and 36 classmates donating every year since graduation in the Hal Ripley Society. Two scholarship recipients graduate in June, including a woman from Uzbekistan whose favorite term was winter.
Dr. James Shih-Kong Wu, who did graduate work at Yale and then went to the Washington University School of Medicine, is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic and primarily working at South Pointe Hospital in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. His specialties are colon and rectal cancers and anorectal disorders. James is credited with multiple publications.
After graduation, Greg Maybury taught math at Choate Rosemary Hall for several years and in 1990 went to Hope College in Holland, Michigan, as its director of computing and information technology. Later, Greg became Hope’s director of operations and chief sustainability officer, a post held until retiring in May 2019. During his tenure, the campus grew from 90 to 150 acres, with its building footprint growing from 1.25 to 1.77 million square feet. In addition to construction projects, Greg oversaw the college’s physical plant, transportation department and campus safety department, and coordinated recycling and energy-efficiency programs. Upon retirement, he started Greg Maybury Consulting. Free time is spent restoring and riding motorcycles.
Schiele Subdivision and Alameda Park by Kay Marie Gutknecht and Krista Van Laan is an in-depth look at the homes in a 23-acre tract just west of downtown San Jose, California. Their history of homes built from 1888 to the 1920s took more than 15 years of research. The neighborhood is distinct within the larger city due to the architectural character of its small residential properties and retains an intact visual unity. The architectural styles range from Victorian-era designs, including Queen Anne and Stick-style homes, to Arts and Crafts, Neoclassical Revival, and various Revival styles from the interwar period.
In 2025, Trevor Rees-Jones received a distinguished alumni award from Southern Methodist University, where he received his law degree in 1978. Described as a “pioneering Texas wildcatter preserving American history,” Trevor has pledged funding and a significant Texas and Western Americana history collection to establish the Rees-Jones Library of the American West at SMU.
On topic of awards, Valerie Armento is being honored by the College in mid-November with an Alumni Award.
