Class Note 1967

Issue

November-December 2026

Class Note 1967. Every year, another class’s 60th reunion affords two opportunities for the octogenarian classmates attending. First, of course, they can reconnect with old friends and places, perhaps for the last time; second, they can explore and get excited about new ideas for living their lives going forward.
We asked about that for this issue and heard, for example, from Jim Clark, who “will be returning to say goodbye to old friends—the best friends I’ve ever had.” Bob Smith adds, “I’m coming also to meet new friends. That has been the most fun for me in prior reunions.” Curt Anderson says that in spite of his disagreements with the trustees through the years, “I still have a gorgeous picture of Baker Library displayed on my desk and can’t wait to reconnect with so many wonderful dudes from our class of 1967, including Charlie Hoeveler, Bill Kirkpatrick, Bill White, and all the other guys from tennis and Sigma Nu.”
Warren Cook says he’s coming to the 60th simply “to see old friends.” So too for Don Wehrung, who says, “Swan and I plan to be there for a great time with our classmates!” Jon Dana plans to be there but regrets he and Fred Cowan “won’t be able to play golf again this time at the late Dartmouth country club. Ugh!” Charlie Hoeveler says he’s “coming not to just ‘say goodbye’ but also to learn whatever our great classmates and friends want to propose that’s new.”
Speaking of learning something new, you might consider the example set by Marvin Soroos, who retired after 38 years teaching international relations and global environmental politics to pursue his passion: painting. He wrote recently that in July he “had a solo exhibition of 15 of my Western Montana landscapes at Bernice’s Bakery and Café in Missoula. My website can be viewed at www.marvinsoroos.com.” There’s always a new “new” that awaits. Come to the 60th reunion and discover yours as well as connect with old and new friends!
