Class Note 1956. John L. Seymour, M.D. writes: “I continue to be in shape for what passes for a 91-year-old. My wife and I live in a senior residence, but she moved a year ago to an attached building because of her inability to stand or walk. She needs nursing care for dressing, moving from bed to chair, etc. It was more than I could do. Some of our classmates are going through the same thing or have done so. It’s progressive. I am thinking of going to the reunion in September and combining it with a visit with my sister, who lives in Keene, New Hampshire.”
John S. Chapman offers this note: “After Dartmouth I got an M.S. in geology from University of Kansas. After graduation I went to work as an oil geologist for Standard Oil of Texas in Amarillo. I met and married my soulmate there. After working for about 10 years for Standard Oil, I became a partner in a consulting firm in the Dallas area. Eventually, I formed a partnership with a friend and did petroleum consulting for the rest of my career. I had three children and lived in Monahans and Midland, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Eventually, I ended up consulting in Dallas. We later moved to Austin, Texas, and finally Portland, Oregon, where we live today. Two of our kids live here and the third lives in Dallas.”
Greg Thoms ’88 spoke of his father, Andy Thoms: “My dad lives in Bradenton, Florida. He lost his wife a month ago but is doing well. He spoke excellent Spanish and German, was a U.S. foreign service officer from 1964 to 1995, when he retired after posts in Germany (twice), Mexico (twice), Austria, Ethiopia, and at the U.S. State Department in D.C. Throughout his life he told stories about his Dartmouth experience. Dad was an exemplary Dartmouth alumnus and went to every class reunion if he was able. I know he misses it now.”
With sadness, I report the passing of John T. Nordling and Robert A. Danziger.
