Issue

November-December 2026

Class Note 1954. Dave Ransom reports his wife, Louise, died June 20. One of Dave’s “touchstones” to her is her favorite bracelet, which Dave positions on Louise’s bureau in her manner. David says, “Little stuff is all, like singing to her at bedtime.”
I hear from Dick Page that Dartmouth rowing club will dedicate three new shells on October 1, one is named Jane O for Dick’s late wife. Page received a recent call from Skip Abbey, reporting his Air Force and private-sector careers. I report the passing of Pete Edwards August 13, 2025; Danny Weidenthal June 6; and John Titus July 1. Outstanding hockey player Johnny Titus in his senior year scored 37 goals. Wayne Weil’swife, Sheila, died July 11. Sheila and Wayne were married nearly 65 years ago.
Ben Gilson’sson Stephen let me know that Ben died July 20 from a stroke. I fished for lake trout for many Mays on a large Quebec lake with droll, funny Ben, he fluent in Mandarin, a painter, and the only fisherman I know who would take apart a reel so he could dab in a drop of reel oil. Ben retired as captain in the Navy. During the Vietnam War he was commander of the orthopedic hospital on Guam, where gooney birds would hamper aircraft takeoffs. Ben could mimic a gooney.
Dave Dame and Marie were in Seattle in August to hop on a cruise to Alaska when Dave fell, his cracked pelvis interrupting their plan. They were weathering the setback well when I spoke with him. Ed Fuller lives alone in Orange, Connecticut, getting exercise taking care of his yard. Patsy died seven years ago. He says: “Alive and still kicking, I played golf up to seven years ago. My career was as federal tax consultant with lots of travel.”
