Class Note 1951. The following comes from Alfred Moses: “This is a bit unusual because I am not the class secretary. Pete Henderson was the last of them and is deserving of recognition following his passing in June.
“Pete was a stalwart, ever loyal to Dartmouth and to the class of 1951. He and I were two of 10 classmates who majored in international relations. As I recall, we were required to have a 3.0 average to qualify. Pete met this threshold in a breeze. He was a strong student, graduated Phi Beta Kappa and a member of Casque & Gauntlet senior honor society.
“He later started ‘The Spirit of ’51’ award to recognize classmates’ postgraduate accomplishments. Throughout a stellar career, he was a leader of Inland Steel, one of America’s largest steel companies.
“Above all, Pete was a person of character, true to President John Sloan Dickey’s challenge to our graduating class to go out to the wider world and improve the lot of mankind. There are few of us left, but Pete’s memory will endure until the last.” —The Editors
