Class Note 1994
Issue
September-October 2026
Class Note 1994. Hi, all. I hope you are enjoying the summer and the amazing memories of Sophomore Summer and “Camp Dartmouth.”
Congratulations to Tyrone Thomas, who was named partner in the entertainment and sports law department at Fox and Rothschild in Washington, D.C. Fox and Rothschild write: “Ty has 20 years of experience handling high-profile employment, compliance, and executive compensation matters for professional athletes and organizations at all levels.”
He advises and represents major universities, professional sports teams, and college athletics programs on a broad range of employment; compliance issues; internal investigations; sponsorship, name, image, and likeness and endorsement arrangements; and as outside general counsel for multiple entities. Given the complexity and continuing evolution of the college athletics landscape, Tyrone’s experience will help his firm and ideally the entire arena of college sports.
Next are two guys with great nicknames.
Hugh “Wrong Way” Carspecken gained his nickname our first year while living in the River, when it seemed whenever anyone saw him, he was always going the wrong way down Tuck Mall road. Hugh is semiretired and is getting pulled back into active investment projects a lot more than he expected in his early retirement. He and his wife are enjoying the next chapter of life, splitting time between Texas and the blue zone of Costa Rica.
Tom “Lightning” Boldt lives in Santa Monica, California, a beach town near Los Angeles. He and his wife, Alanna, have an acupuncture practice in West Los Angeles. The happy couple met back in 2009 at a fundraiser in Danny DeVito’s backyard! They got married in 2011 and have a daughter finishing her “senior” year in elementary school this year. Tom and Alanna look ahead to middle school with excitement and mild apprehension. Buckle up, my friend! Tom occasionally sees fellow ’94 neighbors Ed Rogers and Sam Schweitzer Shlumberger. If anyone is in the area, Tom can be reached at tom@healthyqi.com and would love to catch up.
In other news, many of you remember Al Patetta and his passing in June 2023. I am pleased to share that the Dartmouth Libraries alumni memorial book fund program has assigned and bookplated the following title in his honor: Industrial Light & Magic: 50 Years of Innovation (Abrams, 2026) by Ian Failes.
Official and unofficial spring mini-reunions were held in San Francisco, Boston, and Connecticut. They are a simple and easy way to get a dozen or so classmates together. If you want to plan something in your community in the fall, please reach out to Maggie Lockwood at maggie_lockwood@me.com or connect via our WhatsApp Dartmouth ’94 community. This group continues to grow and now boasts more than 200 members. Please reach out to me if you would like me to send you a link to join and see photos of what your classmates and friends look like today!
Keep in touch.
