Class Note 2025

Issue

July-August 2026

Class Note 2025. Even in the peak of summer, I hope everyone is finding ways to stay cool. If you’re close to a body of water, maybe it means reliving the glory days of Sophomore Summer and trying to find new watering holes to gatekeep from campus or maybe it means rewatching your favorite Shonda Rhimes show with the air conditioning blasting.
I just came back to Singapore from a wonderful trip to Thailand to visit Sarah Grace Williams, who, after graduation, received a Fulbright grant to teach English in Chanthaburi, a town of about 27,000 in the east of the country. When I asked her how she thought Dartmouth had impacted her time abroad, she noted that “learning how Thai communities such as Chanthaburi nourish themselves through direct empowerment of local businesses has been an inspiration to continue learning about communities of care and how we reflect this at home in the States. Seeing communities flourish here reminds me of the care that’s poured into small communities such as the Upper Valley and within our own at Dartmouth. Community is what is at Dartmouth’s core—that’s what I loved most about it.” It’s a great reminder to support local businesses whenever you can. I know that as soon as I’m back to the Upper Valley, I’m heading straight to Still North to browse the latest collection and to My Brigadeiro for a dirty chai.
