Class Note 1994. Hi, all.
Congratulations are in order for a couple of classmates on professional and personal achievements.
Pherabe Kolb was recently named president and CEO of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA), a 13,000-member organization spanning 50 states and several countries. The mission of the NLA is to empower the nonprofit workforce with the knowledge and skills to succeed at every career stage. Since leaving the Upper Valley, Pherabe has spent her career with nonprofits, including 13 years with the Smithsonian Institution and another eight years at the Aspen Institute. More recently, she has served as a consultant, running her own firm, to many other organizations. She now has the fabulous opportunity to lead this amazing organization. With a national organization spread across the country, she lives on Microsoft Teams. Pherabe has lived in the Washington, D.C., area since graduating from law school.
In a “better late than never” story, Jordan Frank writes that 40 years after he turned 13 years old, he was called to Torah and joined 13 others in an adult b’nai mitzvah heard around the world. This soundbite is literally true: The event was picked up by U.S., Israeli, and international Jewish press due to the political distinction of a current mayor and former mayor and congressman. In addition to about 400 guests, Jordan was cheered on by his wife, Laura, their four parents, their son and daughter (remotely from New York), two high school friends, and a Dartmouth cohort including Sarah (Stelzl) and Jonathan Kehl, Benedikt Metternich, Lisa Cogliano, Matt Jankowich, Chris Nichols ’95, Mike Kim ’95, and Liz Larsen ’96. Chairs were raised, the hora was danced, and pong was played late into evening, of course. For anyone who wants to experience the moment, Jordan offers to recite his Torah portion on demand at our next reunion. Mazel tov!
