Class Note 1967. These are expected signs of spring: Cliff swallows return to Capistrano, California, and ’67s gather together for mini-reunions. The annual D.C. dinner was held March 28 at the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia, with a steadfastly loyal group of classmates attending: Sam and Judy Ostrow, Bob and Maria Burka, John and Amy Isaacs, Bob and Betsy Davidson, Chuck Hobbie, Pat Lucy, and Bruce Chasen and Barbara Stratton. Preceding the dinner, the crew played James Bond and toured the Spy Museum, which was terrific. A tradition at this dinner is for all attending to speak briefly about what is going on in their lives, and in a break from past years, spouses and other guests joined in. Bob Davidson reported he has taken “only” 29 Dartmouth alumni travel trips and was recently interviewed for a piece on the Dartmouth alumni travel website; Sam Ostrow confessed he is getting better and better doing nothing; John Isaacs has scaled back his long-term work for the Council for a Livable World; Bob Burka continues to enjoy retirement; Bruce Chasan is still practicing law (by himself and very successfully); and Chuck Hobbie continues his involvement with the Peace Corps.
A few weeks later the 42nd Boston dinner was held at the Longwood Cricket Club. In attendance were Curt and Susanne Anderson, Steve Ayres, Richard and Tina Chu, Warren Cook, Jon Feltner, Mike and Eileen Gfroerer, Bill Judd, Eric Kintner, Bill Kirkpatrick, “Pokey” Kornet, Dwight and Joan MacKerron, Bruce Pacht and Lori Fortini, Jim and Ann Paull, Bill Sjogren and Sandy von Unwerth, Bob and Shari Thurer, Mike Tucker, and Bill and Susie White. Although a slightly smaller group than in years past, this was an extremely convivial group, full of great spirit and song (thanks to former Renegade Curt Anderson). Steve Ayres brought his Freshman Handbook, which contains a wonderful admonition from President John Sloan Dickey: “Do not mistake the power to be foolish as a right, let alone an invitation, to be so.” Too bad many of us didn’t get that message.
