Class Note 1957. Tom Macy started with Price Waterhouse after Tuck and worked there for 40 years in N.Y.C. and Beijing auditing banks worldwide. Today he has a new career. Tom founded a nonprofit daycare in 2020, the Little Blessings Child Care Center, for children ages 1 to 5, and is chairman of the board. Tom said Tuck taught him to focus on details and how to adapt the knowledge gained working with different global cultures to the challenges he faces with his daycare facility. Harry Tuft (see Wikipedia) loved music; was proficient in clarinet, ukulele, and guitar; and became a noted folk music personality. He worked as a DJ on Dartmouth’s radio station and was motivated by Paul Zeller, Glee Club director. Harry used money from a car accident settlement to buy and modify a store and began the Denver Folklore Center in 1962, with performances by Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Bob Dylan. In 2012 Harry was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. On October 17, 2016, the Denver City Council recognized Harry’s contribution to folk music and proclaimed it “Harry Tuft Day.” Harry attributes his success to many friends.
Pete Powers, after ROTC and two years in the Army in Germany, went to work for ExxonMobil for his entire career.Dartmouth helped him develop communication skills in sales and marketing. Pete lives in a retirement community in Manchester, New Hampshire, and joined the choir. Pete Carotherswife, Margaret, called and said he is not doing well and is in a memory care facility in Middlebury, Vermont. They owned a farm in Vermont and were avid conservationists. Bob Adelizzi and Tommi, his wife of 66 years, attended a fundraiser for the nonprofit Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. They have contributed to Rady for 60 years. Bob was Dartmouth’s first All-Ivy football player and named to the All-American team thanks to coach Bob Blackman. Blackman taught him to “never stop trying.” First a lawyer then a banker, Bob took Home Federal Savings and Loan public in 1981. He never stopped trying both on the gridiron and soliciting donations for Dartmouth. Sadly, we have lost several classmates: Merwyn Bagan, Peter J. Diemand,Tom Hazen, Keith Marks, Jonas Shulman, O’Niel Sween, and Chris Wren.
