Class Note 1962. David deWilde writes: “I confess it’s been quite a while since I’ve contributed to Class Notes. I’ve been staying in touch with Ted Beale and ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson. Both seem to be doing great. Katherine and I have four kids and three grandchildren, all doing well. We’ve become very involved in helping to elect a new mayor and board of supervisors here in San Francisco. The new mayor and board are well into major reforms to make the city safer and cleaner while trying to deal with massive budget problems.
“Katherine and I were selected to participate in the Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute, a fabulous program where about 30 people spend a year taking classes in whatever subjects interest them. I’m struggling to compose a family memoir and I’d love to hear from any of my brothers at Alpha Theta and other classmates who’d like to contribute a recollection. I’d especially like to track down recordings by our Injunaires during that period.”
Dr. Peter Uhlmann writes: “I am now fully retired from my psychiatric practice of more than 50 years. I loved my work but at 85 I need to let go. My health has been an issue lately. I’ll spare you the details. I must accept I’m not 70 anymore! This summer I stepped outside my comfort zone and went on a 200-kilometer canoe trip down the South Nahanni River in Canada. Despite my anxiety, the trip was wonderful, and I am glad I did it.
“Family is still my main joy: three wonderful kids and five grandkids, all doing well. Ronnie and I have been together since 1961 (we met in New Hampshire) and we live and love in paradise, British Columbia, Canada. I keep in touch with Jon Will but lost connection to old roommates Dave Hase and Stu Singer. Maybe they will read this?”
I regret to inform you of the deaths of Carl T. Lind of Lexington, Massachusetts, on January 30; and class vice president Richard J. Hannah, M.D., of Salem, Massachusetts, on February 7.
