Class Note 1961

Issue

May-June 2026

Class Note 1961. Two exciting events this year: our virtual mini-reunion on April 8 and our 65th reunion coming up on September 27-29 (or 30).
The April virtual mini-reunion was the 14th Zoom session since we held our four-day 60th reunion in 2021 totally on Zoom. The mini-reunion started with an informal, open-mic session and then, as usual, classmates (and one spouse) shared stories about their lives during the past years. Topics included careers, hobbies, special experiences or adventures, etc. The April speakers included Dave Armstrong, Bill Kandel, Ford Daley, and Sarah and Larry Holden. Additionally, Taylor Schram, the women’s soccer coach, and two of her Ivy League-champion student-athletes gave presentations. Lastly, we heard from an expert about artificial intelligence and scams, particularly those aimed at our age group.
The 65th reunion will start on Sunday, September 27, and end on Tuesday or Wednesday, September 29 or 30. The reunion planning committee—consisting of Gim Burton, Alan Rozycki, Tom Conger, Nyla Arslanian, Don O’Neill, Hop Holmberg, Harris McKee, Doug Zipes, and co-chairs Maynard Wheeler and me—will soon make the final determination on that end date. Registration will begin in June. In addition to a memorial service, events will include a tour of the newly renovated Hopkins Center and a visit to the Frost statue and “Mending Wall” in College Park. We will also hold an afternoon virtual session for classmates unable to attend in person. At the virtual session, we will have presentations from our Bosworth awardees from the Dickey Center and our arts initiative student from the Hopkins Center. We will also have stories from classmates and a short business meeting.
