Class Note 2025. Hello, everyone! At the time of this Class Notes, it’s been a year since starting our last term altogether in Hanover. While senior spring was a mad dash of events and nostalgia, I hope each of you has found time to reflect on your last few months at Dartmouth amid your busy lives. While I’m currently based in Singapore, interviewing new prospective applicants has been a great way to share my love for Dartmouth with some amazing kids, and I would highly encourage you all to sign up as an alumni interviewer in future cycles!
In this Class Notes edition, I wanted to spotlight someone’s experiences from the Big Apple. With more than 200 ’25s in New York City right now, it’s a place where the world can feel a little smaller with a higher-than-average Dartmouth run-in chance. I talked to Zoe McGuirk, who’s working in the legal sector. Zoe wrote, “Life post-Dartmouth has been anything but, which is one of the many reasons I am grateful for New York City and the enduring community we built back in Hanover. While N.Y.C.’s skyscrapers are a far cry from the White Mountains, the people continue to make the place and provide such meaningful support systems and modes of stability during times otherwise defined by upheaval and change.” Zoe also mentioned that Armita Mirkarimi and Ella Laurent went to Cafe Wha with her and were overcome by nostalgia when the band played “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan, a seemingly time-honored tradition for all of us who’ve crossed paths with the Upper Valley.
In addition, congratulations to Esmeralda Abreu Jerez and Noah da Silva on being named Rhodes scholars! Esmeralda will use the Rhodes to pursue master’s degrees in global health science and epidemiology and in health service improvement and evaluation, and Noah will pursue a D.Phil. in earth sciences in paleobiology and evolution.
