Class Note 1974
Issue
March - April 2026
Class Note 1974. I asked Phil Stebbins for the impossible: a short update. Here’s a snapshot—details in the class newsletter.
Approaching “real retirement in 2026,” Phil spent a week in March doing medical missions to an underserved Nicaraguan refugee community outside San Jose, Costa Rica. He spent another week in western North Carolina in July rebuilding homes devastated by flooding in 2024. In September Linda and Phil hosted a missionary friend from Kenya to expand the network of supporters for their orphaned children’s home, school, and widows’ program.
Your financial support would be welcomed! In October he and Linda led the music for their church’s men’s and women’s retreats. Finally, in November they were off for a bucket-list trip to Hawaii. Bravo.
News from Andy Wexler: “It has been almost a year since they bulldozed the flaming cars from our canyon access road in Pacific Palisades that allowed my wife and me to escape the apocalyptic fires. We were very fortunate that while many homes around us burned, ours somehow survived.
“After months of evacuation and rehabilitation, we were able to return home to a now sparsely populated neighborhood. Though retired from my practice as a plastic-craniofacial surgeon, I have continued my 30 years of working in low-resource countries teaching young surgeons and operating. My wife and I enjoy three wonderful grandchildren who love spending time on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. A shoutout to all my former ski team stalwarts.”
