Class Note 2013. Hello, ’13s, and happy New Year!
Congratulations to Eliana Ramage on the success of her debut novel, To the Moon and Back, which was the September pick for Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club. That’s kind of a big deal, to put it mildly! Danny Freeman emailed me to praise Max Hunter, writing: “In early fall Max directed a successful play called Bull in Brooklyn, New York. The play was a lovely, whimsical escape from reality, depicting a stressful corporate dynamic between three colleagues at risk of getting laid off. Of course, by ‘lovely and whimsical’ we mean incredibly stressful and too close to home!”
Radelys German recently completed her residency in family medicine at Brown University and has moved to Boston to work as a primary care physician. In August Paul Lazarow and his wife, Meghan, celebrated the birth of their second child, Irving (“Irvie”). “Big sister Poppy is very excited to have a little brother,” says Paul. Also in August, Sophie (Palitz) Buinewicz and her husband, Jacob, welcomed third child Madelyn into the world. “We and her big sisters, Callie and Talia, are totally in love with her and adjusting to life as a family of five,” says Sophie.
In September Amanda Wheelock married Nolan Hurd outside of Golden, Colorado, with Dartmouth alums in attendance hailing from just down the road in Denver all the way to Sydney, Australia (shoutout to Jamie Mercado ’15 for making the trip!). Amanda and Nolan moved to Anchorage, Alaska, this fall and are eager to connect with any Dartmouth alums living up there!
And here’s a mega-update from my freshman-year roommate, Qian Zhang: “I write from Lisbon, Portugal, the city I have called home since spring 2023. In the past three years I have demolished and rebuilt my life by leaving the corporate job for independent creative projects and departing the United States for Portugal. At least three amazing things happened to me this summer in Lisbon: I hung out with Tanisha Panditharatne and met her beautiful family; I caught up with Rachel Wang on some of life’s most important topics; and I gave birth to a baby boy. By the time this note is printed I will also have published my first book in China titled Out of Harvard (in which I wrote fondly of my time at Dartmouth, except for sorority rush, during which I got no match). I guess the midlife crisis hit me early, and I recommend it to everyone. Please reach out if you are in Lisbon!”
That’s all for now. Thanks to all who shared their news for this column! I love hearing from you and keeping our class connected.
