Class Note 2011
Issue
January-February 2026
Class Note 2011. No one wrote in with updates between late August and October, so Adam Reed kindly obliged my oft-repeated request to write about him in a Class Notes submission. Adam relocated from Vietnam to Thailand for a few months, and he made a few Pokémon Go friends there, much to my delight. Adam also happened to be around for the Pokémon Go Safari event in Bangkok from September 27 to 28 and managed to snag a highly sought-after Pikachu paper hat. Apparently, Thailand is “too expensive” at three times the cost of living in Vietnam, so he returned to Vietnam as of the end of October.
Thomas Lane and I spent last week in Big Bear, California, since, as a native New Hampshirite, I miss being cold. For some reason this is the first year I noticed the leaves changing color there, maybe because one of my friends recently moved from Texas to Minnesota and has been talking a lot about “leaf-peeping.” We hiked the Pine Knot, Cabin 89, Happy Hills, and Cougar Crest Trails and discovered that our two 8-year-old Yorkipoo mixes are still able to keep up, although the girl struggles a bit. She also accidentally walked off the bed one night since it was pitch black so she couldn’t see where she was going, heh. While there, we tried Azteca Grill Mexican Restaurant, which we discovered has an unforgettable churro-inspired bread pudding served with vanilla ice cream. Yum.
