Class Note 2005. Hi, ’05s. I hope everyone had a wonderful autumn. Some updates from our class below. Kate Lyon and Laura Nelson represented the ’05 class in the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR) in Boston in October as part of a Dartmouth “Alumnae 8.” The crew spanned classes from ’94 to ’25 and finished 19th, qualifying for a guaranteed entry next year. Laura traveled from Seattle to row! Colleen Harrison was also at the HOCR, cheering for her husband who was rowing for Princeton University.
Liz (Madden) Noland joined Guilford County Schools in North Carolina as a middle school librarian this year after working in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools since 2019. She also serves as the North Carolina Middle School Battle of the Books state chair. Ben Noland is operating partner at Impact Brands, a private investment company based in Winston-Salem and focused on early-stage and emerging founder-led consumer brands. Ben’s band, High School Reunion, plays rock and pop classics from the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s—find them on social media at @hsreunionband. Liz and Ben’s teenager enjoys lacrosse and the visual arts; their middle child runs cross country, plays lacrosse, and loves gaming; and their youngest child sings in church choir, dances tap and hip-hop, plays piano, and was cast in the role of Tigger (from Winnie-the-Pooh) in his school musical this fall!
Ashley Carruth married Amy Knackendofffel on August 2, 2025, outside of Telluride, Colorado. Ashley and Amy live in Durango, Colorado, where Ashley has been based since 2011. Ashley is dean of experiential education at Animas High School and the cofounder of San Juan Mountain Soles, an outdoor education and leadership development program for local high school girls, one of whom is now in the class of 2028 at Dartmouth!
