Class Note 2004

Issue

January-February 2026

Class Note 2004. Hi, ’04s! Happy New Year! Here’s to a 2026 that brings you and your families lots of wonderful moments and long-lasting memories. While many of us now find ourselves far from Dartmouth, I am sure this time of the year stirs fond memories of our chilly winters on campus. And with the slowness the winter season brings, I hope you can take a few minutes to relax and catch up with our class.
First, on behalf of the ’04 executive committee, I want to thank everyone for reaching out and getting involved! We would love to see you continue to get engaged in whatever way(s) are meaningful to you—host a mini-reunion, serve as an admissions ambassador, submit an update for the Class Notes, give to the Dartmouth College Fund, contribute to class dues, and more! Please be in touch any time at dartmouthclassof2004@gmail.com to learn more!
I also want to take a moment to celebrate the life of Amanda Posner. Amanda passed away peacefully this past August at the age of 43 surrounded by her closest friends and family. Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at 33, Amanda defied her illness for more than a decade, living fully and serving as a shining example to friends and family. Amanda grew up in Scarsdale, New York, and at Dartmouth she majored in religion and theater and was a member of Tri Delta. Amanda earned her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2012 and completed her pediatrics residency at the University of California San Francisco’s (UCSF’s) Benioff Children’s Hospital in 2015. Throughout her professional life, Amanda touched countless young lives with her skill, compassion, and warmth. Amanda’s brilliance, kindness, and humor left a mark on those she met outside of her medical practice as well, inspiring everyone to be more joyful, generous, and authentic. She was a talented performer, having acted and sung in productions at Dartmouth and with the Bard Hall Players at Columbia after appearing on off-Broadway productions as a teenager and acting in the films Welcome to the Dollhouse and The Door in the Floor. Amanda also joined the board of directors for the Bay Area Young Survivors in California and the Norfield Children’s Center in Connecticut. In 2016 Amanda married Ben Neumann, and their greatest joy came in 2019 with the birth of son Andrew. Amanda is survived by Ben, Andrew, parents Dr. Amy Newburger and Dr. Lawrence Posner, and brother Dr. Russell Posner and his wife, Dr. Melissa Posner. To honor Amanda’s lasting impact, her family is establishing an endowed professorship in her name in the division of general pediatrics at UCSF.
Please continue to love and celebrate all of those around you, ’04s, and a big cheer to you as we kick off this new year. Talk again in the spring, and until then, be well!
