Class Note 1998. Dear ’98s!
Happy 2026! Whether you are galloping into the new year fired up by your goals or meandering through the days as you finetune your purpose, may 2026 be filled with passion, unfettered freedom, and unyielding perseverance. It is almost 28 years since we graduated from Dartmouth. Many of us either turned 50 years old at the end of last year or will be celebrating this milestone this year. While time flies (and we certainly have the beauty marks of life to show for it), let’s not let it pass us by. Live in joy and peace and be sure to reach out to your ’98 peeps! Many of you are doing just that! Lou Moore Selchau-Hansen shared an update at the end of last year, stating, “Aimee Cain Bakeman, Allison Hoffman, Clair Jones, Lopa Patel Hartke, and I gathered for a long weekend in early August at Lopa’s home in coastal Virginia. We marveled how time has flown, with Lopa on the cusp of bringing her firstborn to university and Aimee preparing her baby, a high school senior, for her launch this school year. We collectively figured out that through the years—between weddings, reunions, and informal gatherings—we’ve met up 19 times in the 27 years since graduation. We enjoyed a sail on the Chesapeake Bay, daily cold plunges in Lopa’s plunge pool (some enjoyed this more than others), and three days of laughter.” Lou, Aimee, Allison, Clair, and Lopa are the “Five Heartbeats” of the class of 1998, maintaining and rediscovering their friendship throughout the years.
I would love to hear about your connections to Dartmouth. For those of you (like me) who either celebrated, or are planning to celebrate, your 50th walk around the sun, do share your plans! How did you celebrate this milestone? Do tell … and in the meantime, be kind. Be brave. Be love. Be you!
One love.
