Class Note 1993

November-December 2025

Class Note 1993. The holidays are a time for reflection.
During the summer several ’93s gathered to celebrate the life of Dave Goldfarb.
And we remember Colin Tong, who passed away in June.
Jefferson Kiely shared a poignant series of remembrances, including “long talks—sometimes about things that made sense but also other times, winter skates at Occom where a couple guys from places where the ponds never freeze thought they could figure out New Hampshire, crisp fall rides accelerating through twisty roads (no helmets, brother, just these shades will do). There’ll never be another one.”
Chris Clancy remembered he was “truly one of a kind. What a light and joy it was to be with Colin; blessed to have known him and been his friend. Colin had a soft but indomitable spirit, never relinquishing hope, always with a smile, even when he was bothered or down. C. Tong, coming strong, always. We will miss him dearly.”
“I spent hours of Sophomore Summer on the back of his motorcycle, listening to his music, and talking in the van while we waited at the parking lot to give kids a ride. He was an old soul. He loved people. He was such an insightful and compassionate man,” recounted Sharon (Cox) Hujik.
Aran Kadar reflected, “I don’t know if this was the right world for Colin, but I’m grateful he was here.”
I (Munir Haddad) recall: “Your smile was infectious, as was your capacity to tear away artifice. At reunions we would somehow find each other and a piano late at night. You would just play, and we would talk about life—what it meant to feel, really feel. What it meant to be truly honest.”
We have also continued to achieve new heights together and have much to celebrate. Annie Edgerton was featured in People magazine for the show reunion of Mamma Mia!Gustav Peebles received great reviews of his book. Sue Stuebner was named interim president of Simpson College. Rachel Byrne’s Predestined won gold for young adult fiction at the Independent Publisher Book Awards.
As you sit with family and friends during the holidays, don’t forget to take a moment to reconnect with a classmate or two and please send us news.
