Class Note 1967

Issue

November-December 2025

Class Note 1967. Classmates were asked to share what’s new in their lives. John Wasson has “just launched a historical novel in podcast form called Her Magic Mushroom Memoir. In addition, I’m working on whether—or how—to integrate AI into a health website called Hows YourHealth.org I developed 30 years ago.” Ted Walkley says he’s discovered that retirement provides “a chance to reflect on my journey from Dartmouth Medical School to a long career in pediatric medicine in Tacoma, Washington, which is New England with taller trees and higher mountains—a wonderful journey of learning that started from our freshman year at the Dartmouth we knew.” Fred Behringer, who retired from his dermatology practice in January, says, “I enjoy the freedom and extra golf and gym time that I have had since, but I also miss the interest and challenge of seeing and treating patients and interacting with my staff.” Bill Judd says, “For my 80th birthday present I am giving myself a safari to Botswana and Namibia this October.” Ben Mixter says he is leaving southwest Florida for several reasons, including “hurricane seasons and long, hot, humid summers and to be closer to family, have four seasons, and be closer to the Blue Ridge Mountains and other places to explore in our motorhome—new adventures from a home in the Athens, Georgia, area.” For Jim Rooks, “Every day is new.” Jack Ferraro “just returned from a four-month cruise around the world. We recently became grandparents for the first time, and we also experienced two breaks: She fell and broke her right wrist, and, of significantly less importance, I broke my age in golf.” Joe Alviani “spent the end of June and most of July at the Massachusetts General Brigham Hospital dealing with a ‘manageable’ case of prostate cancer. All went well, and I’m swinging the golf club again, looking forward to the Paolino Memorial Open!” John Rhead shares that “medical tests indicate I may be a candidate for Alzheimer’s. Exploring what I can do and still grateful to be alive.” You can read full versions of these and other submissions at 1967.dartmouth.org.
