Class Note 1965. My checkout clerk yesterday at the Hanover Co-op just graduated from Hanover High and is going to Dartmouth. He will be living in the same room in Middle Mass that once hosted Rod Meade and myself, the same room where Rod put his protagonist in The Maltese Connection last year. By the time you read this, Rod’s second novel should be out.
Evidently a classmate complimented Mike Gonnerman on his appearance in the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine and complained, “I’ve never even been in Class Notes.” Get out your scissors, Bill Busker, here you are! Bill and Barb live mostly in Dallas but are in Florida long enough to be regulars at our monthly breakfasts.
Pete Baumbusch reported: “When I retired as a lawyer more than 15 years ago, we moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. Summers are shared between McLean, Virginia, and Bethany Beach, Delaware. I have been in regular contact with Rich Bloch, who has built a magic theater near Bethany Beach where he performs and offers shows of other magicians and performers.”
From Bruce Wagner: “I’m fortunate to have a home on the shore in Glen Arbor, Michigan, as well as a senior living community in Lake Forest, Illinois. Unfortunately, I lost Betsy, an elegant bride for almost 50 years, two years ago. We always won the contest for ‘first met’ at parties swilling inexpensive white wine.”
Following our reunion, Bob Komives and Marney drove to Mill Run, Pennsylvania, to visit Jan and Don Boardman, who enjoy their community in Maryland and summers near Woods Hole on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Back home they enjoyed a lengthy phone call with Joan and John Fletcher. They have moved from Washington state to Mexico, where they live near Lake Chapala, west of Guadalajara.
A final update: Ted Atkinson and Marcia have moved to Sarasota, Florida. “We are fulltime Floridians and expect to see the Venice crowd often. It wasn’t something planned but we decided it was time.” Another recruit for our Florida breakfasts!
We have been notified of the loss of Don Burland and Jack Macdonald. For further information, visit www.biggreen65.com.
